There's nothing more Aussie than a kookaburra laughing in your backyard. Our handmade Kookaburra Box is individually built in Queensland from reclaimed pallet timber and purpose-built for Laughing Kookaburras.

This is not a standard bird box. It's a substantially larger design, with a wide, roomy cavity, an extra-large internal floor and a covered entrance tunnel to suit these larger birds.

Kookaburras nest in large tree hollows that can take a century or more to form. As big old trees are cleared, those hollows are lost. A kookaburra box gives them a safe place to keep raising families near you.

🌿 Natural Timber (Raw) – $80

Our original handcrafted finish, left untreated to showcase the natural character of the reclaimed timber. It can be left natural or finished by you if desired.

🛢️ Natural Timber (Oiled) – $90

Finished with premium 100% Pure Linseed Oil on the exterior to enhance the timber's natural grain and colour while helping protect it from the weather.

🎨 Painted Exterior (Sealed) – $100

Finished with durable exterior paint in your choice of green, brown, black or camouflage, then sealed with clear lacquer for added weather protection. Ideal for blending into your garden or bush setting.

🧹 REMOVABLE FLOOR FOR CLEANING

The removable floor panel lets you clear out old nesting material and check the condition of the box without dismantling it.

Never open, clean or disturb a nest box while it is occupied. Always wait until the birds have left and the breeding season has finished before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance.

🌿 INSTALLATION

Kookaburra boxes are best mounted higher than most nest boxes where a suitable and safe mounting position is available, on a large mature tree with a clear flight path to the entrance. Position the entrance away from prevailing weather where possible.

Professional installation by a suitably experienced arborist or nest box installer is recommended for higher installations.

Wildlife may sometimes inspect or occupy boxes intended for another species, so occupancy cannot be guaranteed.
